How to Live the Life You Want

Everyone wants the opportunity to live a wonderful life, but many don’t know how to do it. I find it a bit crass to ask personal financial questions of others, but it seems a few people have no problem doing this. I am always shocked when people ask me personal financial questions, but I’m even more shocked when they don’t understand the basic foundations of living a wonderful, and financially free, life. For those who do not understand how it’s possible to live the life of your dreams without going into debt or forsaking your future, here it is.

Live Within Your Means

This does not mean you should spend every cent you make and nothing more. This means you should live well below your means. We all want to purchase expensive items, go out on expensive dates, and travel the world, but that doesn’t mean we should just because we can afford it. Before you spend, make sure you are paying your expenses and you are saving a significant amount of money and then see what’s left. What I like to tell people is that while I can comfortably afford a second home or a luxury vehicle, it doesn’t mean that I will purchase it.

Make Your Money Work

Saving is good; investing is better. Your investments could make a 20 year difference in your retirement. Of course, you may want to retire at 60 and think that’s pretty young, but what if you could retire at 40 without losing any money each month and year?

Develop Personal Relationships

Money is great. I’m not going to lie and tell you that I would be just as happy without having plenty of money as I am having it, but I also know that it’s only a small part of my happiness. My family and friends are what make me happy; having money only makes me stress-free. If you want to live the life of your dreams, you have to build relationships that last a lifetime.

Work Toward Your Passion

Maybe working 9 to 5 isn’t your dream, but you might have to work. This doesn’t mean you have to stop working toward your passion. If your dream is to start your own business, go to work every day with the mindset that you are working toward your passion and you are one day closer to achieving your dreams.
