Fashion and Style Advice for the New Year

Fashion is something that comes and goes; style is something that’s deeply personal and individual only to you. What’s considered fashionable in one city might not be considered overly fashionable in another and vice versa. For this reason, most people choose not to pay as much attention to fashion as they do style. However, even then many women find it difficult to find a style that suits them, fits in with fashion trends and makes them feel comfortable. Consider these three tips whenever you dress yourself and you’ll realize you don’t need any other fashion advice because this is the key to real style.

Dress Well

It doesn’t matter if you’re headed to the supermarket for one item or to a formal wedding for your best friend; you always dress well. This doesn’t mean you have to go to the store in a pair of heels and a DvF wrap dress; it means you go dressed appropriately and not like you just rolled out of bed or off the couch. Dressing well is always appropriate. It’s better to be overdressed than underdressed in any situation.

Stay Simple

The fastest way to ruin any stylish fashion ensemble is by complicating it (and isn’t that just how life goes in every aspect?). Keep your style simple. For example, something many women do is pair big earrings with a big necklace. It’s too complicated. Pick one or the other. Additionally, if you choose to go simple with both, pile on the bracelets. If you choose to wear a scarf, forget a necklace or big earrings. Stay simple. Sometimes the simplest ensemble is the most stylish.

Avoid Being Trendy

There’s nothing wrong with trends (well, most of them anyhow). What is wrong, however, is that too many women focus solely on being trendy rather than stylish. Want to wear a pair of booties because they’re the trendiest thing on the market today? Fine; but wear them with something simple. Think skinny jeans and a blazer. Wear them with a classic wrap dress. Just don’t wear them with 3 other trendy pieces if you want to avoid looking like a 14-year-old girl.
