Do you ever spend hours and hours going through the millions of options on Netflix or Hulu and still not find anything to watch? How about we give some of our dearly beloved shows a second chance? Here are 15 TV shows that had us glued to the TV but ended way too soon and deserve a revival.

Pushing Daisies

Remember “Pushing Daisies”? It was about a pie-maker called Ned who could bring people back from the dead just by touching them. However, a second touch would kill the person forever. This show was a mix of mystery, romance, and black comedy. Why revive it? Its storytelling was one-of-a-kind, and honestly, who doesn’t want more of that pie?

Firefly

“Firefly” is among those gone-too-soon series that lasted only one season. The space Western created by Joss Whedon successfully combined Old West traditions with a dose of modern sci-fi through its remarkable characters and snappy dialogue. So, we think a revival will only make it more adventurous for Captain Mal Reynolds and us.

Freaks and Geeks

The high school drama, Freaks and Geeks, perfectly captured the awkwardness of being a teenager. It also starred our favorites, the then-unknowns like James Franco and Seth Rogen. The show, which only lasted one season, has struck a lasting chord with its accurate and comedic portrayal of adolescence. A reboot would be a perfect repackaging of the original idea of a new class at McKinley High.

Jericho

Amazon

This show is about the small town of Jericho, Kansas, cut off from the rest of the world by a hush-hush nuclear attack that destroyed 23 major US cities. It was all about community, family survival, and figuring out the conspiracy. After two seasons, it was canceled due to scheduling issues. A revival with a new crisis would be worth the watch.

My So-Called Life

Amazon

My So-Called Life was a show about Angela Chase and her friends as they lived through their teenage years. It was so blunt when it came to identity, relationships, and insecurity. Another season would either show us a sneak peek into Angela’s adult life or fresh faces with current social issues. And we are already excited!

Quantum Leap

Amazon

What if you could leap through time and make things right? That was the life of Dr. Sam Beckett in Quantum Leap. Sam leaped into another person’s body in each episode to live their life and fix what he could. Quantum Leap was smart, heartwarming, and filled with surprising twists. The show could be continued to keep the original concept while still adding some new modern problems. Maybe Sam is still out there, leaping, and it is time to bring him home.

Dark Angel

Amazon

Long before superheroes were on the big screen, there was “Dark Angel” starring Jessica Alba as a genetically modified super-soldier in a post-apocalyptic America. The show was ahead of its time and took a lot of risks by delving into societal collapse with a very gritty narrative. A revival could mean a new set of themes and challenges or a new batch of super-soldiers.

The Secret Circle

Amazon

This mix of teen and supernatural drama was about high school witches exploring their friendship and powers. The show was canceled after one season and left too much book material for the next seasons. A revival could go more in-depth and follow the original characters through their ongoing fight against darker forces.

Carnivàle

Amazon

It was a TV show about good and evil and the never-ending battle between them in a mystical traveling carnival. Creepy and convoluted, this show was amazing visually. Carnivàle had a six-season mythology but was closed after the second one. A revival could have resumed the current plot or shown a new set of mystical rides.

Utopia

Amazon

The original UK Utopia, not to be confused with the American remake, ‘Utopia’ was an energetic conspiracy thriller about a graphic novel that foresaw devastating disasters worldwide. It was gritty and complex, questioning how far we would go to save humanity. A revival could continue to test the boundaries of freedom and security in our increasingly surveilled world.

Deadwood

Amazon

Deadwood was a gritty, brutal, Shakespearean intro to an intricate group of savage lead characters. The essence of lawlessness and deepness of the characters was unparalleled in this show. A revived show could finally point out the intertwined fates of the town’s inhabitants or introduce a new era of fresh faces with the same intensity in their stories.

Dollhouse

Amazon

Joss Whedon’s creation, Dollhouse, explored identity, consciousness, and freedom of choice. With Echo resetting her memory after every mission, the concept seemed truly unique. While the beginning was slow, it developed into an interesting and insightful show. A revival could give us a view of the ethical consequences of this technology and its impact on society.

Lie to Me

Amazon

Based on the actual science of lie detection, Lie to Me, centered on Dr. Cal Lightman and his colleagues using psychology to solve crimes. Each episode was gripping but also educational in its own way. A revival could feature new characters or depict Dr. Lightman tackling today’s fake news era, where his skills are needed more than ever.

Alphas

Amazon

Alphas, the superhero series, provided a fresh angle on the genre. Instead of exceptional individuals or those gifted with resources, it showcased people with superpowers that came with significant drawbacks. If revived, the series could likely explore the experiences and challenges of Alphas integrating into society or the influence of public superhumans on the world stage.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Amazon

A show about the behind-the-scenes of a fictional live comedy show, ‘Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip’ was a clever blend of drama and humor penned by Aaron Sorkin. Despite its stellar cast and sharp writing, it did not survive past its first season due to tough competition and high expectations. A revival could thrive today, with us now craving more funny content.
