A lot of this had to do with Bill Paxton since throughout his career he was a popular actor. But the idea of storm-chasing was intriguing as well.

The idea was so funny and out of this world, no pun intended, that it just worked. Plus, the dynamic between Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones was fun to watch.

Somehow this movie worked on more than one level since it showed the fragmentation of the Avengers in such a big way. It also opened up viewers to the infinity stones even further.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Amazingly this sequel did a little better than the first movie since it did introduce a couple more characters. But in terms of story it was kind of tough to get into.
