Ever wonder how some people are so goal oriented that they always meet (and exceed) their own expectations and accomplish their goals with ease? Some people are just go-getters and many people attribute that to their personalities and think that they just donât have the same quality. If you are one of the people who thinks like that, like you canât meet goals that big or succeed that much, because itâs not part of your genetic makeup, youâre wrong. You can succeed and you can become goal-oriented.
Constant Reminders
Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who are constantly reminding themselves that they have a goal to set. They do it by leaving sticky notes on the bathroom mirror or programming reminders to meet their goals into their calendars or keeping a reminder of all they have to do on the back of their phone so they see it at all times. Constant reminders keep you motivated.
Be Specific
Donât go creating vague goals such as, âI will make it by the time I reach 30,â or anything like that. Be specific, âI will earn a million dollars by the time Iâm 30 because I will write a bestselling crime novel.â The more specific you are about your goals, the more likely you are to meet them.
Be Accountable
When you hold yourself accountable for meeting your goals, youâre more likely to meet them. Tell someone about what you plan to do that way you have to be accountable for it. Tell your best friend that youâre writing a novel and then write it. Sheâs going to ask and you donât want to have to look at her and say, âWell, yeah, I did say that, but um, well, see, what happened wasâŚâ You want to look at her and say, âYes, Iâm done and Iâm submitting it to my publisher now.â
