The 10 college majors with the highest unemployment rates are unfortunately some of the most popular sometimes. It’s all a matter of what you do with your education. Expecting it to work automatically is poor planning.
Liberal Arts

Considering that this is such a wide subject, plenty of people find themselves taking up college majors that are a road to nowhere. The liberal arts aren’t useless. Many people don’t have a solid direction when picking this type of major.
Fine Arts

This is a very niche choice given that it requires excellence and a serious amount of dedication. Fine art isn’t something that one can do halfway if one wants to be successful.
History

They say those who don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it. But the unfortunate part of being a history major in the real world is that it’s often respected, but not exactly useful in a universal manner.
English Language

This doesn’t make a lot of sense, does it? Unfortunately, the fact is that jobs that focus on English are highly saturated and tough to break into.
Mass Media

You would think this would harbor a lot more opportunities, yeah? Sadly, this isn’t the gold mine a lot of people experienced only decades ago.
Art History

Art and history are both still very alive and able to be enjoyed. But trying to interest a wide selection of people in this type of subject is extremely difficult in this era.
Physics

Now this doesn’t make a lot of sense considering that physics is rather important. But again, a saturation of the job market could be one explanation, while a lack in the educational system could be another.
Commercial Art and Design

For something that is so valued and needed in the business world, it doesn’t make sense that this would see such low success rates. However, when so many people figure that they can do something it’s bound to happen that many will be stepped over in favor of those who actually can market their skills.
Sociology

This is often one of the most maligned social sciences of all, but it does make sense at times. Sociologists don’t often get a lot of respect from society, as their studies don’t always attract the attention of the masses.
Aerospace Engineering

You might be scratching your head at this one since it feels as though it should be a successful major, right? But it’s fair to say an internship or some other program is necessary when taking this major, otherwise the hardships of being an actual engineer will overwhelm a lot of people.
