Mississippi River

Many rivers on this list extend through multiple states but having seen this one up close, it’s fair to state that it’s extremely impressive. Just standing on one of its banks is enough to feel the majesty of this river.
Yukon River

It’s not confined to an American territory, but it’s a historical river that many have treasured for a long time. Extending over 1,900 miles, it’s one of those rivers that expresses itself in a way that defies words.
Rio Grande

As the basis for many stories, movies, poems, and even songs, the Rio Grande spans well over 1,700 miles. It also features plenty of popular spots to relax and enjoy the view.
Colorado River

Over 1,400 miles of territory are touched by this river, and it’s a well-known source of entertainment. Plus, anytime Colorado is mentioned it’s fair to state that some people smile with contentment. It’s just a great state.

I know, this is supposed to be about the longest rivers in the US, right? But the Canadian River does run through Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas, so it counts.
Brazos River

Located only in Texas, this river runs a little over 800 miles in length, but it’s still a sight to see. Texans would no doubt be proud to make it known that this river is one of the longest in the country.
Green River

Sadly, the Green River is notorious for the deadly killer that helped to cement its name in history. But there’s a lot more to appreciate about this body of water, thankfully.
Pecos River

Something about the rivers in Texas is different, or maybe it’s just the history and scope of it. In any case, this 700+ mile river offers up a lot of good memories for a lot of people.
White River

Starting in New Mexico and ending in Oklahoma, this is another river that is featured in popular media quite often. It’s not hard to see why, since it’s an impressive site.
