10 Movies Involving the Moon

There are at least 10 movies involving the moon that people have watched and still care about. They’re kind of rare but still fun.

Moon

Set on the moon, this movie is about a man who’s been working for a mining operation with the promise of going home when his shift is up. Unfortunately, when he finds another person who looks just like him, he finds out the horrible secret his company has been hiding.

Apollo 13

Based on the actual near-disaster that happened decades ago, this movie is seen by many as a testament to the human spirit and what it takes to survive. Plus, it delivered a great line that was never part of history.

First Man

The Space Race was a big deal decades ago. Focusing intently on Neil Armstrong and his tale, this movie shows how his life led up to one of the most historic moments ever.

Transformers 3: Dark of The Moon

Three movies into the franchise, it’s discovered that the Autobots managed to send a shuttle away safely from Cybertron. Unfortunately, the last occupant is eventually revealed as a traitor who’s helping the Decepticons.

Moonfall

When the moon is discovered to be a construct that is threatening the Earth, a disgraced astronaut is needed to help save the day. It’s not a horrible movie, but it was kind of meh.

Ad Astra

The moon isn’t the main focus in this movie but it does play host to an interesting fight scene that many have criticized. Brad Pitt doesn’t always make stinkers but he does have a few movies that aren’t highly regarded.

Despicable Me

Gru’s plan to steal the moon is something that only a kid could come up with, or a Hollywood writer trying to emulate a kid. But it made for an interesting story that was kind of fun.

Iron Sky

Just imagine if the Nazis won the Space Race before it ever hit its stride. Then imagine that modern-day astronauts found them and enabled them to finish their mission. Yeah, that’s about it.

Apollo 18

This is more of a traditional space mission until it’s established that the moon rocks on the moon aren’t all rocks. The horror aspect of this movie is kind of interesting but doesn’t explain much since it’s a found-footage film.
