The Best Financial Advice from Millionaires Across the World

Steve Jobs

Last time I checked, pretty much every single person in the world would love to have a bank account filled with millions. Even if you are not the kind of person who cares much for money, you still want to have plenty of it. You want to be able to afford to pay the bills, to have food on the table, and to do a few fun things here and there; and to help those in need. Who doesn’t want to be able to give more at church on Sundays, or donate to those in need – both your time and your funds? There is something to be said about the fact that the money is helpful; even if you don’t love it.

I don’t like to think that money is a bad thing. I like to think that it’s a very good thing, but I also like to think that you have to have a healthy relationship with it. You have to know that money is good, but that it is not everything. It is never going to do you any favors if your relationship with money is unhealthy; if you view it as a way of life and as a powerful tool. Money is just money; you are the powerful tool behind it.

On that note, I thought we might look at some of the best financial advice in the world. How do I know it’s the best? Well, it comes directly from those who have plenty of it. If you’re going to take financial advice from anyone, it might as well be the people who have the most of it, right? That’s my opinion, anyway.

You can make as much money as you want

The best piece of advice from the truly wealthy is that you can make as much money as you want. You don’t have to sit back and look at life thinking that you’re doomed to make only a certain amount of money for the rest of your life. This is an economy and a world where you can do anything you want and make as much money as you want if you simply get up, get moving and make the effort. Think of it this way; someone is a millionaire somewhere because they thought of sticking bubblegum into a bit crystal ball on a stand by the door of a grocery store so kids could stick their parent’s quarters into it. Someone is a millionaire somewhere in this world because they decided that we need soap that smells like pumpkins all fall. You can do anything.

Look for solutions, not at the problem

Most people look at their problems and focus on those. The really rich take their problems into consideration, of course, but they really just look at the solution. Their way of looking at life and their finances is more “How can I make this right,” instead of “Why do bad things happen to me?” and it really does make all the difference in the world. Change your attitude and you will absolutely change your life.

Expect to succeed

If you go into anything thinking that you’re out to fail, you are going to fail. You have to expect success. You might not see it right away, but you can achieve it. The great news is that everyone fails. Ask Bill Gates how many times he made a plan, created something he thought would change the technology of the world and found out it wasn’t good enough, didn’t work, or wasn’t productive. I bet you anything that he does not even have the ability to count that high. The good news is that every single time he did not succeed, he learned a very valuable lesson and got better. Accept failure and roll with it, but never stop expecting success.

Get over yourself

You, my friend, are your own biggest problem. When you live with fear and with the idea that you cannot be a millionaire because you don’t have a Harvard degree or because you aren’t skilled in something, you will live that life forever. Stop thinking that and start getting over yourself enough to change your life. Allow me to quote something I hear and say to myself over and over again (thanks to a Pinterest meme), “Everything you ever wanted is on the other side of fear,” and that is that.

Nothing really matters

Want to know something? It doesn’t matter what kind of degree you have, what kind of education you have, where you came from or what you do (Unless you want to be a doctor or something like that; then you do need to have the education). My husband and I’s best friends live debt-free, they make millions and millions of dollars every year running a very successful construction business – even through the recession and all that happened since 2008.

He went to college to become a teacher and she majored in business. He grew up in a mobile home, the second of six kids, and he never really had much. He had no experience other than a part-time job working for a contractor when he thought he could do it better than his boss, and he began his company. Now he is one of the most successful people in the world – and he’s smart, he’s humble and he never forgets where he comes from. He also doesn’t let where he comes from or his degree in education stop him from doing what he wants with his business. How’s that for a life lesson?
