At this point, we are all ready for spring to come and get rid of the yuck and muck winter brings.  While you are waiting, try these recipes for Homemade Hot Cocoa And Spiced Tea.  They take the chill out of a yucky day and add just a bit of pleasure that will leave you feeling all warm and toasty inside.

Hot Cocoa is a treat that everyone loves and carries fond memories for most of us of a treat after a day spent playing in the snow or part of a winter breakfast.  This recipe for Homemade Hot Cocoa is sure to please.  Begin by gathering your ingredients.  You will need 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup water, 3 1/2 cups of whole milk, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, pinch of salt, 1/2 solid milk chocolate candy bar, grated up and whipped cream (in can).  Combine dry ingredients, add water and bring to a boil for 1 minute.  Remove from heat and add milk and vanilla in, stirring slowly.  Pour into four mugs and garnish with whipped cream and grated chocolate.

Spiced tea is a recipe that always makes me think of grandmothers, probably because my  husband’s grandmother always made this for us when we would visit in the dead of winter.  It is surprisingly simple to make and will make your home smell lovely when you do.  This recipe for spiced tea makes a mix that will keep for months and you can make a cup whenever you wish.   You will need 1 1/2 cups Tang, 1 cup instant tea, 1/2 cup lemonade mix, 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of cloves.  (I add more cloves, up to a whole teaspoon but you can personalize this any way you like).  Mix and store in a jar.  When you would like a cup of spiced tea, heat one cup of water and add 2 teaspoons of spiced tea mix.
